A Muslim CTA employee contacted CAIR-Chicago for representation after being repeatedly passed up for promotion.
The employee has been working for CTA since 1979, yet has seen many newer employees – including some he had trained – promoted above him. He filed charges before contacting CAIR-Chicago in 2007.
Rima Kapitan, a volunteer attorney from Amal Law Group, represented the man before the Human Rights Commission of Illinois and was able to negotiate a settlement agreement on his behalf.
